Mentee Rewards & Incentives:

  • All 9-12th Grade Students the Mentor Program Are Eligible To Receive a Scholarship Ranging from $500 to $1,000 as an Incentive of Good Behavior, Good Grades, Showcasing Leadership Skills, & Meeting Term Goals through our Student Scholarship Promise
  • All Students Qualify for Gift Cards & Other Rewards Throughout the School Year along with Attendance of our Field Trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas 

Effective Mentor Significance:

  • Creates Better Futures for the Students Served With A Commitment To Long-Term Success; Positively Impacts those Around Them
  • Increases Classroom & School Leadership Amongst Students
  • Increases Motivation & Learning While Decreasing Classroom Disruptions, Benifiting the School Climate & Culture
  • Proactive Method When Supporting Teachers and Aiding Teacher Burnout while Assisting Administrators & Parents in Student Growth

Logistics & Practice:

  • Each Mentor is Assigned a Case Load of 5 Mentees 
  • Mentors Meet With Mentees Twice a Week, For An Hour & 30 Minutes Each Day
  • Mentees Are Chosen By School Administrators With Teacher Input
  • Mentor Progress Is Tracked From Teacher, Administration, & Parent Surveys in Accordance With Goals Set For Each Student and Grades, Behavior, Attendance/Tardies, & Office Referrals

  • The Learning Opportunities & Enrichment Activities. of our Educator-Created Curriculum Consist of the Following 6 Pillars—

    • Academic Excellence— ELAR Focus:

      We improve the interest/motivation of students in Reading through learning tablets and our personalized, educator-created curriculum which entails culturally responsive books, articles, and instruction to capture the interest of students.

    • Academic Excellence— STEM Focus:

      To offer our mentees an engaging and immersive learning experience through advanced technology and innovation, we incorporate Schoolzz-Tech which uses Oculus goggles to create a 3D learning reality for students to navigate words, solve math problems, engage with the Periodic Table, and simulate different career fields through practice and virtual reality exposure. 

    • Life-Skills, Social Expression & Restorative Behavior Practices Emphasized:

      Working with Others Cooperatively & Effective Communication, Using Effective Problem-Solving when Making Decisions, Showcasing Resilience when Enduring & Overcoming Obstacles, Being Receptive to Constructive Criticism, Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence through the Lenses of Self-Efficacy.

    • Community & Service:

      Our mentees at each campus form a coalition to execute a School Service Project through real-world inquiry from feedback derived from the school’s Campus Improvement Plan and with input from other students, teachers, and administrators. During this process, they’re able to utilize their (GALLUP-Focused) Strengths and gain a better sense of awareness, confidence, belonging, and self-exploration while leading by example.

    • GALLUP Strengths:

      Mentors serve as GALLUP Strengths Coaches for their mentees, teaching students about their strengths, affirming self-identity and experiences while informing students how to use their strengths to learn concepts, acquire skills, and apply these things in specific careers where they could flourish.

    • College, Career, and Skill-Development Planning for Postsecondary Success:

      Mentors work with Each Mentee to Create a Roadmap for Post-Secondary Success Involving Careers, Skills, and College, Designing a Top-5 College Match List Including:

      • Career Student Would Like to Have

      • Program Student Would Like to Enroll In

      • Interests, Activities, & School Involvement

      • Where a Student Would Like to Live After College

      • How Much Money a Student Would Like to Make 

      • What Colleges Offer Free Tuition Based on Eligibility & Grants/Scholarships
